Chroma's MagXtract® 3200, a fully automated nucleic acid extraction and PCR setup system won the 18th National Innovation Awards. The award is a most important indicator of demonstrated research & development as well as innovation capacity by healthcare institutions and enterprises in the field of biotechnology in Taiwan. After three stages of comprehensive review, 80 industry experts recognized MagXtract® 3200 as the winner out of submissions from over 300 companies. The 18th National Innovation Awards ceremony was grandly held on December 17, 2021, at the Taipei International Convention Center. The head of Ministry of Science and Technology Wu Tsung-Tsong attended as the guest of honor.

MagXtract® 3200 is Taiwan's first novel open platform that performs nucleic acid purification and PCR setup in a compact bench-top workstation. The system greatly eliminates repetitive and complex steps, reduces hands-on time by more than 90%, improves overall operative efficiency, and reduces the risks of bio-specimen infection for medical laboratory scientists. Based on an open and flexible software architecture, MagXtract® 3200 supports various extraction PCR sample preps and accelerates the progress of PCR downstream applications such as Covid-19 diagnostic testing and NGS. Moreover, MagXtract® 3200 has received CE-IVD, FDA, and TFDA product approval for markets around the world.
